Septic system excavation and installation entails thorough site preparation, including the excavation of pits and trenches for the tank and leach field, ensuring the tank is placed level, connecting the necessary plumbing, installing the leach field with perforated pipes and gravel, and subsequently backfilling and grading the area, all while adhering to strict local permitting and conducting soil tests, such as a percolation test, which guarantees the correct depth, slope, and drainage for effective wastewater treatment and compliance with environmental regulations. Typically, a licensed professional oversees this process, which generally takes one to two days, and concludes with final touches like seeding to prevent erosion.
Site Preparation & Permits:
To ensure proper system design, conduct soil tests, specifically a percolation test, to assess soil suitability. Before commencing work, secure all necessary permits from local authorities. Finally, clearly outline the designated areas for the tank and leach field.
Excavation:
Utilize an excavator to create a sizable pit designated for the septic tank along with the necessary trenches for the leach field pipes. Make sure that the pit for the tank is adequately deep and that the base is leveled for optimal stability. Additionally, carve out trenches for the drain pipes, maintaining a gentle slope to facilitate effective gravity flow.
leach field Installation:
Place perforated pipes within the trenches, typically accompanied by gravel or specialized chambers, that connect to the distribution box. Make certain that the entire leach field is either level or has a slight slope directing away from the tank.
